Our Architect-Economist
Reviews our guides · Answers reader questions · Leads Expert Review
Most property advice looks at a home either as a building or as a financial decision. BecomeHH's guides are reviewed by an architect-economist who looks at both — because a cheap flat with a failing roof is not cheap, and a beautiful house that ties up your savings for twenty years is not a good buy.
What an architect-economist brings
- The building. Reading a floor plan, spotting layout problems and visible defects in listing photos, and judging what a renovation is likely to involve.
- The money. Buying costs, mortgages, annual ownership costs, rental yields and the rent-versus-buy trade-off — the numbers behind every calculator on this site.
- Buying abroad. How the process, taxes and costs differ across the 18 countries we cover.
What our expert does on BecomeHH
- Reviews our guides and blog posts for accuracy — every article shows its sources, and figures are re-checked against official data.
- Answers reader questions sent through Ask Expert Advice, free of charge.
- Leads Expert Review — a paid, written review of a specific listing, floor plan or question, coming soon.
How we keep our information reliable
- Mortgage rates, central-bank rates and tax rules come from official sources (central banks, tax authorities, national statistics) and recognised aggregators, and are re-verified regularly. The full source trail for every rate is kept on file.
- Every article lists its sources, with links.
- When a figure is an estimate or benchmarked rather than confirmed, we say so.
What we don't do. Our content and answers are general, educational guidance on buildings and property economics. They are not legal, tax, credit or investment advice and do not replace a licensed professional in your country — a lawyer or notary, a tax adviser, a mortgage broker or a qualified surveyor. Always confirm before you commit.
